Social Notworking
March 13, 2008 – 11:16 amI just unsubscribed from a whole-heck-of-a-lot-of social networks. If you are looking for me, I am still on Facebook and linkedin. I’m probably on a few others, but I just canceled MySpace, Friendster, Orkut, and Bebo.
MySpace was the most difficult to complete. I actually had to click on a link in an email they sent me. Bebo was a little tough because I probably only went to that site once, so I had to remember what email I used…
(This all started when I saw this headline on Google News: AOL to buy Bebo for $850M… I don’t really care about it too much, but it did make me think “Hey, I’m pretty sure I have a Bebo Account… I never use it… Let’s get rid of it”)

I feel less geeky because I had never heard of Bebo. I also never signed up for Friendster or Orkut. I mean, if they weren’t big enough to become verbs, I avoided them.

Orkut was pretty cool for a while.
I guess it’s just how many of your friends sign up… just like ICQ/AIM/MSN/Gtalk/Y!/whatever…

A very long time ago I used to have a MySpace account. I cancelled it after a month or two, because 1) I was never using it and 2) when I did, I never enjoyed it because the site was so ugly and slow.
