Isaiah 20

So… When you are worrying that you don’t know what God is saying because it sounds crazy, you might want to check out Isaiah 20. It’s a pretty short book.

It basically goes: God tells Isaiah “Hey… run around naked for a while.” Then the next we hear, God is telling Israel: “Hey, you know that crazy Isaiah guy… yeah, the dude that has been hanging out with you all naked and stuff for the last 3 years? I’m going to do the same thing to Egypt and Cush”

Three Years!

  2. I read that chapter yesterday morning. It’s funny, how the 3 years is mentioned kinda off-handedly. I wonder if Isaiah is being modest here. :-)

The other thing I got from that chapter was from verse 5: “Those who trusted in Cush and boasted in Egypt will be afraid and put to shame.” It struck me how utterly appropriate that was. Isn’t that a rather natural consequence of trusting in anyone/anything other than the Lord?
