NBC lies to me, all the time.

I watch the Office on their website, since they won’t let me buy season four from iTunes. They have these crappy commercials (way too loud, there are only 2 per episode, but they show them 12 times each) that they show over and over again, and there is a little indicator in the upper right corner that says “Your show will automatically resume in X seconds” which counts down to zero and then is replaced with “Click to continue.”

Either NBC is lying, or they don’t understand what “automatically” means. I don’t know which is worse.

  1. Haha, a friend and I happened to discuss this same thing last week. She claims it used to automatically resume, but I’ve always had to click to continue. Oh, wait, nevermind, that was ABC.com. They’re both liars then.

  2. It automatically restarted for me when I was watching them on Matt’s computer–not that that excuses them. I don’t know if they just didn’t properly code it to work with all versions of your OS and browser or what, but if they say automatically, they should mean automatically. (And this is the pot calling the kettle black; the Pungirls Links Page is not displaying right in Internet Explorer…)
But what really frosts my cookies is the commercials. Seriously: it’s almost enough to make me download episodes illegally via BitTorrent or something. NBC, get your TV commercials off my internet.
