Firefox Tab Closure

June 28, 2007 – 8:39 am

I’ve been ragging on Safari for a while, but there are things that it does better.

Why in the world is Firefox’s “close” button for a tab on the right side?

I open up my 20 (or so) comic sites, and close them one at a time to read them all. About halfway through, I have to look up and move my mouse over because the tabs have changed size. From then on, after closing each tab I have to look and make sure that I’m on the button.

Solution: Move close button to the left side, or use Safari.

  4. Hey Dwight! (I’ve been lurking on your blog for the last few entries. :-) )

I had to chime in on this one. That’s what keyboard shortcuts are for! In Safari or Firefox, just press crtl-w to close the current tab. That way, it don’t mattah where yo mouse pointer be. :-)

  5. ahh, that’s good…

But good software design says: “make every way easy”

    or whatever :D

  6. I used to use the shortcut Jeff mentioned, but ‘W’ is so close to ‘Q’ on the keyboard and I usually end up closing all windows instead of one tab.

IE7 actually made its way to the top of my preferred browsers list. Too bad it’s not on my Mac! :-O

  7. you can still find 5.2.3 out there :P

I didn\’t get to try out IE7 back when I was using my Concordia pc laptop full time… That was when I made my transition to Firefox, and, actually, Gmail as a mail reader instead of just a service…
