Studio Ghibli
February 6, 2007 – 11:15 pmIf you haven’t seen any of these guy’s movies, they are great. Every one I’ve seen anyway. My favorite is Howl’s Moving Castle, but I haven’t seen them all.
I’d really like to see Miyazaki and Pixar do something together (besides the Pixar intro to all the special editions of the movies)…

what’s this? Dwight Knoll, actually liking some anime? you sellout. ;)
anyway, seriously…I really liked Kiki’s Delivery Service and Nausicaa. Spirited Away was pretty good too, in a drug-trippy, this-stuff-makes-Totoro-look-fricking-normal kind of way. I liked Howl’s Moving Castle all right, but the plot didn’t entirely cohere and seemed pretty random at times.

FLCL is still the worst crud I have ever seen and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone…

I think I liked Spirited Away best, though I just watched Castle in the Sky, and it was quite good. Howl’s was a trip. Whatever that dude has oozing out of his brain, he just let run with Howl’s, and though it’s pretty amazing, I think I agree with Jackson, it gets a little incoherent at times. The story for Spirited Away I thought was more solid.
