Psalm 35:1-3
January 29, 2007 – 9:12 amPlead my cause, O Lord, with those who strive with me;
Fight against those who fight against me.
Take hold of shield and buckler,
And stand up for my help.
Also draw out the spear,
And stop those who pursue me.
Say to my soul,
“I am your salvation.”
Reading through the Psalms, this section jumped out, which is odd because usually sections only jump out that I recognize from hearing/saying them in liturgy or just in culture (e.g. 23rd Psalm).
This is a good prayer in troubling times. David’s enemies may have been armies, but remember: “…Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)
