November 9, 2006 – 4:13 pmI listen to a few podcasts since I commute for an hour each weekday. Here is my one bit of advice for all podcasters: Leave out the intro.
I like podcasts because they aren’t radio. Most podcasts don’t have commercials, which is a bonus, now we need to get rid of the 1 to 2 minute intro that you guys are pasting in front of each show.
One podcast I listen to has the exact same thing at the beginning of each show, which is long enough that I skip it. Two podcasts that I listen to have an intro followed by a recap of the previous show. Recaps are for live radio, not podcasts where I either have listened to the previous episode or don’t want to. I think these two are just posts of a radio show, if so, just cut off those useless bits.
