Peace Quotation
October 31, 2006 – 2:50 amI saw a bumper sticker (i.e. “take its accuracy with a grain of salt”) quotation today:
Peace cannot come about by means of force, only understanding — Albert Einstein
I would like to respond to this.
Peace cannot come about by understanding. That belief denies the intrinsic wretchedness of man which cannot be overcome by any means short of reconciliation with the Living God. This reconciliation is not cerebral but spiritual.

To what sort of peace do you think Einstein was referring?

peace, love, dope… Einstein was a hippy
I don\’t really know what your question means…

Well, it seems to me that he was referring to peace between nations or the constituents of nations, rather than personal peace. Leastways, that’s how I’d interpret the quotation, because of his reference to force. Nonetheless, your criticism might still be valid no matter what the sense in which he meant “peace.”
