North Carolina hates blind people…

or else they must not have mockingbirds.

(Author’s Note: This is a bunch of wild speculation with even wilder conclusions… Don’t get on to me, I learned it from reading too much “news”.)

So, I’ve been hearing this bird-ish sound occasionally when stopped at stoplights as I go about my daily business. The reason I say “bird-ish” is that it is a little too regularly paced to really sound like a bird. For a while I just figured it was an odd bird, but then I started to realize that I was hearing it at the same lights, and that those lights had crosswalks at them. The little sign that says stop and go also has a small box above it that may (or may not) be a speaker. So I think that maybe this is the sightedness-impaired person’s guide to crossing the street.

In Texas, a mocking bird would sit right next to that thing and make the exact same noise every once and again… mostly when the thing wasn’t telling people that it was safe to cross the street. Hence the title and subtitle of this article.

I adjusted the title and subtitle, after reflection, to represent the best sensationalization possible.
