The trouble with time-zones

May 11, 2006 – 7:36 pm

So I left for work at 12:30… completely oblivious that it was not 11:30.

“But Dwight,” you say, “It isn’t fall-forward or spring-back time even in the least!”

“Au contraire,” I might say, if I knew what it meant if it applied in this situation.

“You, my good sir, are correct.” That’s what I would say.

But when you send your computer in to get fixed, and they send it to Houston, and you live in Durham, and the time-zone gets set in the workshop, and you use your computer’s clock to tell you when to leave for work, and you don’t check that time for accuracy when it comes back from the shop; you are left in a situation where “time” can bite you in non-springbackward/fall-forward times of year.

  2. If you made it through that… that is what passes for humor around here ;-D
