Online Computer Applications

I never thought they could do it, but Google, with Gmail, has successfully taken webmail and made it good enough that I don’t want to launch an application on my computer and check my mail that way. I’ll say it now (and take it back in 5 years, most likely) that no other everyday application will make it from my harddrive to a web interface.

You’ll take it back eventually. Soon there will be only two types of programs: Video games and web applications.
The era of the hard-drive resident application is coming to a close.
(I’m just passing on a recieved opinion. I don’t really know. Seems likely to me though.)

Someone is going to need to do quite a bit of convincing to make me want to word process online…
The only reason that gmail works in place of a HD client is that it is so network bound.
There are people out there that still have dial up! There are also people who don’t even have dial up!
