Eumenides

I just finished the last extant play in the Orestia. It is a pretty interesting play. There is a referece to Mars Hill, which is also mentioned in Acts 17. Apparently it was named such because when the Amazons were mad at Thesesus they came to this spot (near Athens) and sacrificed animals to Ares (Mars.)
Athena makes an interesting statement before the trial, something like; “Evil shall not prevail because of a technicality” (That’s how I remember the translation…) Sounds like an interesting statement… somethink like “Justice shall not be blind, but shall peek out from under her blindfold every now and then.
I also found it interesting that the 12 jurors of Athens split their vote evenly. I think there could be a paper writen about that and justice (Picture me waving my hands in a circular motion.)

  2. you know what you should do? you should finish writing the last extant play in the Oresteia. you know, complete the saga. I would find that incredibly awesome.
