Theological Miscellany

September 22, 2005 – 7:10 pm

There have been a few loose ends floating around in my head, so here they are:

First of all, there is a real neat concept in Luther’s commentary on Galatians… I can’t remember the verse. But he says that it is as absurd to think that the law brings righteousness as it is to say the handcuffs on a prisioner, or the leash on a lion’s neck make them righteous. Which is funny because that was the topic of my freshman essay at SJC. (The essay was on the Laws of Lycurgus in Sparta, but I talked about the law and virtue (as oppsed to righteousness) ) (Disclaimer, I haven’t read that essay in a while, if at all, so I wouldn’t say it was a perfect presentation of what I think now…)

I forgot what the other things were… so this isn’t really Miscellany, but you can bear with me. Or not… whatever : - P
