Ouch…

September 7, 2005 – 11:47 am

So I just resumed weight lifting after a brisk 9 year hiatus. We started with some stretching/cardio kinda exercises, and then found our max on the bench and leg press. After 2 sets of 10 on the bench with 95 lbs, I was supposed to do 3 with whatever I thought was my max, so I just left it at 115 since that is what the guy before me did. I was only able to do one, barely. I think I could have done more without the initial reps, but I guess that is the point.

Then on the Leg press machine we did 1 set of 15 with 135? I’m not sure it was 2 45’s and whatever the machine weighs… I’m guessing 45. Then coach figured out our theoretical max with our body weights… I did 22 reps with 260.

After this I felt pretty queasy. We did some lunges with 25lb weights, and then some barbell presses from a big ball instead of the bench.
That was it… But I hope I don’t feel like this after every time… That would not be cool.

  2. This class is probably the greatest investment you can make in your future health. Dr. Knoll’s diagnosis: You are feeling quesy because your blood sugar is dropping too low as you exercise. You MUST eat something with carbs and protein in the morning before you go do that much exercise. I know it is early in the morning, but you can have a protein drink or eat a protein bar. Also, drink liquid before you go and after you finish so you don’t wear you body down.
