Ephesians5:22-24
Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
Obviously any idiot can see what this statement is saying. It is VERY specific in its words. It is saying women must submit to their husbands in everything! The Calvary Chapel says it means men and women have equal responsibility in a relationship. That is simply not true. It specifically says man is like Christ to a woman. It says NOTHING WHATSOEVER about a man’s duty to a woman. While other statements may hint towards more mutual statements, this passage is very clear, and very sexist. Very very sexist. No argument.
Let’s give an EXACT example of a Bible contradiction. There is no way to interpret this differently. It is a specific contradiction of itself. A lot of Christians will not acknowledge that The Bible has contradictions in it, or once they find that the Bible does have contradictions they will chaotically search for a way to “interpret” it.”
Lets look specifically at “It says NOTHING WHATSOEVER about man’s duty to a woman….”
Hmm… next verse: “Husbands , love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, … (description of holiness)… In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.” (Ephesians 5:25-28 NIV) “… Each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” (Ephesians 5:33)
“There is no way to interpret this differently.” Indeed.
